Denese Thompson

Denese has been in the surety industry over 40 years starting her career with USF&G. She completed their underwriting training program covering all lines of fidelity and surety business. During her tenure with USF&G, she handled all lines for Surety and Fidelity bonds. Denese was Manager of the New York office for 13 years until she left in Dec.1996 to join Monitor Surety Managers, Inc. At Monitor Surety (now known as Berkeley Surety Company) Denese established their Commercial Surety operations in the NYC office which was subsequently adapted in all their branch offices. In June 1999, Denese accepted the opportunity to join Atlantic Coverage Corp. She continued with Atlantic Coverage until July 2005 when Atlynx Surety was formed and subsequently acquired by USI Insurance Services, LLC.

Denese is very active in several industry associations: Insurance Professional Association of Long Island, Inc., Federation of New York Insurance Professionals, Inc., Downstate Insurance Association's Council, Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. -- LI Chapter, National Association of Surety Bond Producers, NYC Fidelity, and Surety Association.

Denese holds officer positions as well as other positions on the Board of Directors of many of these associations. She has also been honoree of several awards including 2010 Insurance Professional of the Year and the 2009 Babette Traub Award for her commitment to Education in the Insurance Industry. Denese has conducted several educational sessions and courses for various groups, including contractors and insurance brokers, on surety bonding. She has conducted surety courses held by several educational institutes including, Manhattan College, Fordham University, Rutgers University, NY Tech, Manhatanville College, Lehman College, SoBro and West Point.
